The Mere Inn, Crewe Road was bought by Joule’s Brewery in 2012 and has undergone extensive refurbishment, reopening in June 2013 as one of the finest Joule’s Tap Houses.
Joule’s Brewery, based in Market Drayton has returned the Mere Inn to its Victorian roots, with the help of a former licensee and his family who remembered what it used to look like. The Brewery has brought back the snugs and cosy rooms to reflect a small and quaint mid-Victorian parlour pub.
Joule’s Brewery, together with The Mere Inn, now has 18 Tap Houses across its heartland Shropshire, Staffordshire & Cheshire. The Taps form a portfolio of remarkable and beautiful restored pubs, often ancient and each of them unique, inspirational and special, each famous in their respective localities. They have been designed sensitively, thoughtfully and built with emotion, using high quality natural materials, relevant locally, unique, warm, comfortable and well lit.
The Mere is now in the able hands of Christopher aka 'Charlie' Charlesworth and along with his team he is looking forward to welcoming you into his pub for a great pint of Joule's ale and perhaps a bite to eat.
