If you’ve ever been to the Kings Arms in Church Stretton, you’ll know exactly why it’s so loved. Warm, bustling, and full of familiar faces, it’s the kind of place that feels like home and that’s all down to Sherrie and her team.
Sherrie has proudly been with Joule’s and at the Kings Arms for seven years now. She came to the Kings Arms because of the locals, who encouraged her to take on the pub after years of working in others nearby.
“It’s the customers who keep me going,” Sherrie reflects. “I can’t imagine doing anything else.”
A Hub for the Town
The Kings Arms is truly at the heart of its community.
“It’s a local hub, a place where people meet and connect and feel part of something,”
Sherrie says. She’s proud of the way the pub brings people together and adds with a smile,
“It’s not my pub, it’s theirs.”
Inside, the pubs character shines a roaring fire, good food, and a friendly atmosphere. The steak and Pale Ale pie has become a favourite, especially when paired with a perfectly poured pint of Pale. The team are also known for serving one of the best pints of Monk around, winning the Slumbering Monk Flagship Award at the 2025 Joule’s Taphouse Awards. Sherrie herself is a fan of the Green Monkey!

Supporting the Local Community
Alongside their warm hospitality, great food, and great beer, Sherrie and her team are proud supporters of their local community. They sponsor the local boxing and cricket clubs, donate mulled wine to the Rotary Club and support the local Mayfair charity, who help vulnerable people in the area.
They also host a quiz for Guide Dogs each year, sponsored by Sherrie’s two dogs, Marmite and the late Mr Cooper, who’s legacy lives on.

A Pub for Every Season
Sherrie reflects on her favourite time in the pub. “Winter,” she says without hesitation. One of her fondest memories is from 2017 when thick snow blocked the A49.
“Everyone came down in their wellies all wrapped up with their dogs, the pub was packed and full of warmth and good cheer. There are so many moments like that, which I just love.”

Why Joule’s Love Working with Sherrie
At Joule’s, we’re proud to work alongside people like Sherrie, who bring the true spirit of a Taphouse to life. Her warmth, care, and community spirit make the Kings Arms a place where everyone feels they belong.
Sherrie looks after her customers and her team with pride, she’s the kind of landlady who remembers your name, your favourite pint, and the story you told last time you were in. Her passion for the pub, her locals, and her town embodies everything we believe in at Joule’s.
The Kings Arms is more than a pub, it’s part of Church Stretton’s story. And thanks to Sherrie, it’s a story full of heart, warmth, and community.
