An authentic English Pub filled with charm.

Situated above the picturesque town of Shrewsbury, nestled in the charming area of Copthorne, The Bricklayer’s stands as a timeless icon of admiration. Acquired by Joule’s in 2009, this historic establishment underwent a meticulous and profound restoration, preserving it’s charm.

Dating back to 1874, The Bricklayer’s originally occupied a spot just 75 yards from its current location. Its storied past includes a remarkable relocation saga in 1930, amidst fervent applications for redevelopment, ultimately culminating in the granting of a license in July 1931.

With a reputation deeply rooted in its community, The Bricklayer’s has become synonymous with live music, engaging open mic nights, and a menu that celebrates the essence of classic pub fare. It has established itself as not only a place to enjoy good food and drink but also as a cultural hub where locals come together to unwind, connect, and create lasting memories.

In April 2024, The Bricklayer’s will undergo its second refurbishment, marking an exciting new chapter in its storied history. This refurbishment presents a special opportunity for an individual or team to experience the joy of running a beloved local pub. With its warm atmosphere, loyal customer base, and renowned offerings, running The Bricklayer’s offers a rewarding experience for those passionate about hospitality, community connection, and great beer.

Pre-Development

The Bricklayers is currently undergoing a 12 week development project. The expansion will introduce access to a covered courtyard, alongside extending operational areas including the kitchen, and finally  jazzing things up with classic bar games like darts and shuffleboard.

Inspiration for Post Development

We are taking inspiration from several of our previous development projects, including The Royal Oak Eccleshall and the Leopard.  Post development it is set to be the place where you can gather with friends and family, sip on Joule’s beer, and dive into a world of friendly competition and good times.
