Joule’s Brewery are looking for friendly, outgoing bar staff to join the opening team at Gas Street Vaults, our new canalside Taphouse in Birmingham city centre. If you enjoy a busy bar, love a chat with customers and take pride in serving a great pint, we’d love to meet you.

The Opportunity

With Joule’s beers and Château Bessan wine on the bar, fresh pub food, live music and a sun terrace overlooking Gas Street Basin, there’ll be plenty of reasons for people to give the pub a try. You’ll be one of the reasons they come back.

You’ll join us before we open for training at the pub with your General Manager and the Joule’s Brewery team. You’ll get to know the people you’ll be working alongside, learn how to pour and look after our beers, and get familiar with the wines and food you’ll be recommending from your first shift.

The Vision

A major new canalside pub destination coming to Birmingham at the start of 2027.

We’re turning a former bistro on Gas Street Basin into a Joule’s Taphouse that takes its character from Birmingham’s canals and industrial past. Each part of the pub will have its own feel, from the sun terrace where you can settle in for lunch by the water to the buzz around the bar when there’s a band on.

We want Gas Street Vaults to feel like a local in the middle of the city. That starts with the people behind the bar who’ll talk a first-time visitor through the beers and remember what they had when they come back.

What You’ll Get Up To

Who We’re Looking For

  • Experience in bar or front-of-house roles (preferred not essential)

  • Legally allowed to serve alcohol in the UK

  • A positive hands-on approach and willingness to get stuck in

  • A genuine passion for great food, drink and customer service

  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner
