Gas Street Vaults is the future Birmingham Brewery Tap of Joule’s Brewery, set on one of the city’s most historic stretches of canal at Gas Street Basin.

The building has welcomed people for generations and has long been part of Birmingham’s canalside story. We’re proud to be giving it a new future, creating a pub that celebrates both the character of the building and the heritage of our independent Shropshire brewery.

Work is now underway on a careful programme of restoration and refurbishment. Our aim is not to change what makes the building special, but to reveal it. We’ll be restoring original features wherever we can, sensitively improving the spaces throughout the building and creating a welcoming pub where great beer, good food and warm hospitality come together.

When Gas Street Vaults opens in early 2027, you’ll find a traditional Brewery Tap serving Joule’s beers just as they should be enjoyed, alongside a carefully selected range of wines, spirits and classic pub food. Every decision, from the materials we use to the way the pub will feel, is being guided by the belief that great pubs should belong to their surroundings and stand the test of time.

This is an exciting project for our brewery and a significant investment in Birmingham. As work progresses, we’ll be sharing regular updates, behind-the-scenes stories and milestones as the building begins its next chapter.

In the meantime, if you’d like a taste of what we’re creating, why not visit our nearby sister pub, The Red Lion, Jewellery Quarter? Opened in 2026 following its own careful restoration, it offers a glimpse into the craftsmanship, atmosphere and hospitality that will inspire Gas Street Vaults.
