Next Door, for Now
Last year, we acquired The Stag with a dual purpose in mind. Firstly, we wanted to enhance our brewery operations and integrate the entire courtyard into our concept. Given the proximity of the two pubs, it only made sense to incorporate The Stag into our larger site. Our brewery is the heart of our pub network, and we’re passionate about making The Stag a seamless part of it.
While we bring exciting plans for the Red Lion to life, we’re thrilled to be calling The Stag home for the time being. It’s a fantastic space, and we’re making the most of it- same great team, same Joule’s beer, just a new setting for now. Once the Red Lion reopens, The Stag will become a dedicated events space—so this is a brilliant opportunity to see it in action before we open for bookings.

We do proper food, done right. Using fresh, local ingredients—including our own beer in a few dishes—we keep it simple, tasty, and just how pub food should be.

Book a Brewery Tour
*Please note our Brewery tours are currently closed until September 2025
Join us for our Public Brewery Tours, held on the first Wednesday of every month (except August and January). Starting at 7pm in the Mouseroom, you’ll dive into the story of Joule’s Brewery, how the 6th oldest beer trademark came to live here in Market Drayton.
Enjoy plenty of beer sampling, including our seasonal brews, before heading on a guided tour of the working brewery— please note closed-toe, flat shoes are a must for safety! The evening finishes with more beer and a brewery supper featuring a giant Joule’s hot pork bap (vegetarian options available).
Tickets are just £20, available from the Red Lion Brewery Tap. It’s an evening of great beer, good food, and a behind-the-scenes look at what makes Joule’s so speical.
