Bricklayers Arms

Relax in a wonderfully nosey and spacious beer terrace at this Taphouse built in 1874

We are reliably informed that Shrewsbury town is home to the world’s 1st sky scraper, Ditherington Flax Mill but more importantly our excellent Taphouse the Bricklayers Arms.

The Bricklayer’s is perched at the top of the town in Copthorne where Joule’s admired it for many years finally acquiring it in 2009 and carrying out a significant and special restoration.

The Bricklayer’s, the youngest pub in our estate has one of the richest histories, originally built in 1874 a mere 75yards away from its current site.

With applications in 1930 for the site to be moved for redevelopment to allow the people of Copthorne to have a ‘superior Inn’.

It took until July 1931 and 5 applications later for the license finally to be granted to have the Bricklayers Arms moved.

The Bricklayer’s now has smart wide board oak flooring, a lovely real fire and beautifully restored original smoke screens that once made up the snug and smoke room.

We were lucky to find some mahogany panels from a Shropshire country house library which have now been rehomed as the frontage to the Bricklayers bar.

A wonderfully nosey and spacious beer terrace sits to the front of the pub perfectly positioned at the heart of the Copthorne community.

Always on Tap, Joule’s Pale Ale, Slumbering Monk, Pure Blonde and our English craft lager Green Monkey, alongside our rotating seasonal ale and cold craft beer. All brewed in Market Drayton with pure Shropshire mineral water.

Easy access parking can be found to the front of the pub.
