The Leopard is a grand ‘roadhouse’ pub design built by the great Taylor Walker estate in the 1930’s. Inspired by a 19th century hunting lodge it is a very good example of the ambitious and high-quality pub design from the era of those big national brewers. Taylor Walker built a number of such examples, this one is particularly high quality and original, a great example of its type and style.

Joule’s brewery, a small local independent brewery purchased the Leopard just over 10 years ago. In 2012 the pub was fully refurbished.

The Leopard is one of the company’s most important pubs and we have invested continually over our tenure maintaining very high standards. Landlords Gary and Sam have been in place for the whole of this period, are also fully invested and committed to the local community. It is a pub of which we are very proud and have come to know and understand very well.

STREET INSPIRED ICONS

Over the last 10 years, the Leopard has become well known for its street-inspired inventions, the most amazing burgers are the signature range, but the team are constantly creating something new from gourmet hot dogs to fancy steaks and even have their own take on Sunday lunch.

Amazing food is just a part of what makes the Leopard a great local, the bar is vibrant which matters to us all to make sure the leopard is still a pub at heart, albeit with great food.

Covid 19

Over the last 18 months, we have had to come to terms with the Covid, customers have come to enjoy more space between tables, more space makes for comfort all around. We created a garden marquee which has been a great success and the feel of the ‘inside/outside space has been great, people really like the garden room, though of course, it gets a bit too cold in winter!

So we now hope to build a really impressive, slightly grand and permanent garden room, big and airy, and which is designed to really open out, a retractable roof, lots of windows and doors, and one which will open out to our beer terrace.

It will be stylish, provide more space, very airy and of course work in the winter and the summer!
