Joule’s Brewery is pleased to announce its acquisition of the 12 bedroom Swan Hotel in Forton near Newport. The hotel has been purchased from British Country Inns lead by Peter Matthews.

Following our announcement last year, we have been disposing of our estate in an orderly fashion. I am delighted that Joule’s have been successful in their bid for the Swan Hotel which is a much loved very high-quality old Inn. This deal will allow the Swan to be a part of the Joules estate and will provide it with good exposure and a long term vision which is so important in today’s fiercely competitive market. It is good to know it will be in the safest of hands and I wish Joule’s, our loyal customers and our wonderful staff much success for the future.

We are delighted to secure the Swan at Forton. It is a quintessential old village Inn with a very good reputation, and it is just the kind of pub which we like and is a perfect fit for the Brewery. The pub has a great aura about it, a very grand pub originating from a country house; it still has that sense of grandeur with its high ceilings and grand fireplaces. The pub is looking a little tired, and we intend to invest early next year, so it is spick, span and polished for the spring. In the meantime we have Christmas to look forward to which is very much business as usual with the current team in charge, we will follow their lead while we get to know all our new customers.
