Throughout September the Duke of York, Lichfield closed its doors while it underwent a Joule’s Brewery ‘sparkle’.

If you have wandered past The Duke of York, Lichfield recently you may have noticed that the outside of the pub has been treated to a lick of paint and adorned with a beautifully hand-painted swing sign featuring the York Rose. Well pop inside, and it’s a feast for your eyes.

Throughout the Duke, the carpets have been lifted and replaced with reclaimed quarry tiles and new oak floorboards, this along with the beautiful ancient beams has added to the lovely atmosphere.

Duke of York, Lichfield

A new seating area has been created at the lower half of the pub affectionately named ‘1664 Table’ celebrating the Pub’s long history. Alongside the hand-painted 6ft mirror celebrating Joule’s beer ‘No.37 Tonic’ this previously hidden corner now beckons you in and is the perfect spot to while away a Sunday afternoon with a pint or two of Joule’s and a local cheeseboard.

Adam has been the landlord at the Duke of York for three years now and regularly hosts a variety of societies, groups and festivals throughout the year. The Duke is one of Joule’s largest pubs making it perfect for beer and pub enthusiasts, dog owners and local businesses alike.

In the last year, the Duke has hosted four Weddings and many Birthdays, Christenings and Anniversary parties. The ‘Courtyard’ to the rear of the Pub has now transformed into a function room and great place to meet with friends and family for a ‘good old knees’ up with the addition of your very own bar in the corner. The perfect excuse to buy in a couple of barrels and become a master in pouring your own pints.

The Duke of York officially relaunched on Thursday 18th of October with live music, food and complimentary Joule’s beer. The evening provided the chance for the people of Lichfield to have a nosey around their the newly sparkling pub- the same, but better.

Why not pop in and have a look for yourself? You could even sample a pint or two of our new award-winning seasonal ale Fat Mouse whilst stocks last.

The Joule’s Team of Craftsmen have now moved on to The Market Vaults Tamworth, a brand new Joule’s pub which is undergoing a full restoration and shall be opening in time for Christmas 2018. For news and updates on this project follow the Market Vaults on facebook.
