The day we have all been waiting for has arrived. Staff at Taphouses across the Joule’s heartlands of Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire are today pulling pints once more.
The new normal maybe a little different when visiting your local, you will now be asked to sign in as part of the NHS test and trace scheme, tables have been spaced out and some may not be in use to encourage social distancing. You will also be treated to table service; this prevents any bottlenecks at the bar. We believe this has become a new way of life for all, comparable with the changes we have all seen when doing the weekly shop.
Landlady Sherrie Darch-Williams from The Kings Arms in Church Stretton commented to the Shropshire Star this weekend.
‘It feels like we’re opening for the first time again. We are excited and nervous at the same time. We closed on March 20; I think we knew that we were going to close because it seemed like the next step from the government. We live in the pub so it is very strange in a sense. We have only been here for three years, but it’s been our local for 12 years – we know everyone. We’ve done all our risk assessments; we are taking bookings for food. We’re not always going to get it right first time, but I think we have this time. It is not for everyone, but I certainly think there will be a lot of people still wanting to come out for a little bit of normality. We are looking forward to seeing all our old customers, and new ones.”
