We’re excited to announce that we’re reopening the doors of the Waterside Tap on Friday, 20th June, and we’d love you to join us to raise a pint of Joule’s to our new beginning right here on Gas Street Basin.
This canalside pub marks our third site in Birmingham, alongside the Red Lion in the Jewellery Quarter and the New Inn in Harborne. For our small brewery in Market Drayton, opening in the very heart of the city feels like something worth celebrating, and we’d love you to be part of it.
We’ll be running the Waterside Tap just as it is for now, with no big changes, we want to take our time to get to know the building, the area and, most importantly, the people who drink here. We believe every great pub should reflect its community, so we’ll be listening closely to shape our long-term plans.
Once the time is right, we’ll begin a thoughtful restoration to create a full Joule’s Taphouse – rooted in character, tradition, and charm. Just like our previous projects, from the Leopard in Nantwich to the Bricklayers Arms in Shrewsbury – we’ll restore with care, preserving the soul of the building while creating a space for proper cask ale and cold beers year-round.
We’re incredibly excited to be here, and we hope you’ll be part of the journey. Join us from 20th June and be among the first to raise a pint of Joule’s to a new start on Gas Street.
We’re thrilled that Bernie and Ade, the much-loved duo behind the New Inn in Harborne, will also be helping guide the Waterside Tap in its next chapter. Their warmth and experience will be right at home here on the canal.
We’ve worked hard for this opportunity, and we can’t wait to welcome you in. Come by and join us in a toast to the next step on our Birmingham journey.
