Our newest Joule's Brewery Tap, The Mere in Alsager is opening on the 5 June 2013. Our new tenant, Charlie has been appointed, the build is all but finished and we are eager to get going. Look forward to seeing you at The Mere. Tick tock.......

There is also a Tenancy opportunities coming up later in 2013 at the Butchers Arms in Forsbrook. A really special pub, the Butchers is nestled slightly back from the road and it is one pub that we are very proud to own and very excited to open.

The opportunity here is for a seasoned operator, a heavy hitter if you like, with a depth of knolwedge and a passion for pubs, food and real ale.

If you think you have what it takes to run this Joule's Brewery Tap then we look forward to hearing from you!

To discuss these opportunities in further detail please contact our Brand Operations Manager on neale@joulesbrewery.co.uk

Hopefully our Pub section of the web site will give you a good idea of what we think makes a great pub. Our estate is varied in that we have some truly old inns, medieval even, and the rest marking the changes through the reigns. But all have a common and most important thread – all are classic British pubs, warm and convivial.

We believe in high standards, and Joule’s Tenants share this belief and all strive to host the kind of pub they themselves would like to visit. The pubs also have the Joule’s Ale brand in common and a respect for the trade mark above the door. It’s clear that if the reputation of an individual pub suffers there will be a knock to the reputation of all the others as well as the brewery.

The idea of a Joule’s House should conjure up a comfortable, cosy and friendly pub whatever its style; with a real fire, unpretentious pub food or snacks, probably some pub games, very high internal standards but first and foremost a huge pride in the Ale. But wrapped round all this, each Land lord or lady runs their pub in their own unique and personal way - we currently have 18 pubs and more or less double that in characters...

OUR APPROACH

We offer tenancies rather than leases so no one is bound; if the business doesn’t suit you, you are not handcuffed to us. We believe in fair play and a good motivating deal. If you are unhappy for any reason you need to give us 4 months notice, we will then look for a new tenant and on handover will return your security deposit which is normally around £10k. Our philosophy is to keep things simple, to be fair and respectful with one another, and enjoy the business which we have both chosen

We aim to establish around 25 Joule’s Houses, our strategy is not to extend beyond this to ensure each house remains special to us and unique within the Joule’s family. We intend to have representation across our core geography of Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire (the Brewery is at the epicentre) and within that geography each pub is designed to be a flagship pub for Joule’s Brewery in its locality – each pub in effect a Brewery Tap. The 'Taps' are at the heart of the business and it matters to us that they are the best they can be. Our goal is to create the most wonderful and intriguing family of pubs bound together under this vary famous and respected brand mark. We believe that a Joule’s House by virtue of its being a Joule’s Brewery Tap will offer each Tenant a real competitive advantage.

The brewery will support this endeavour by working with you to best promote the brewery, its brands and your pub. We brew three ales, all of which we are very proud. We believe they bridge the market very well with our front runner the famous and traditional Joule's Pale Ale 4.1%, our award winning and very tasty Slumbering Monk at 4.5% and the rather fashionable Joule's Blonde at 3.8%, an ale brewed with lager malt and the famous Czech Saaz hops. Our Tenants are always extremely welcome at the brewery and we host them and their customers regularly with tours and sampling and we always aim to give everyone a great experience which we hope enhances their association with their own local Joule's House.

We still have lots of work to do, but you will find new and innovating ideas and promotions evolving over the coming years. We are gradually pooling skill from our Tenants who we encourage to co operate with one another by sharing ideas, contacts, high standards and friendship.

We are always keen to hear from experienced publicans who think they may enjoy our style and share our vision. Get in touch even if your ideal location isn't up for grabs - we still have a pipeline ...go to contacts, e mail us from there and attach your cv or simply ask us any question...we look forward to hearing from you.
