Joule’s Brewery have been appointed by the Whitmore Estate to manage the Mainwaring Arms in Whitmore.
The Inn take its name from one of the oldest and most established family estates in the country with an unbroken lineage dating back to the Norman conquest of 1066. Whitmore Hall is still the family home to the Cavanagh Mainwaring’s who are custodians of the ancient estate, house and gardens which includes one of the country’s finest fisheries as well as the Mainwaring Arms nestled in the crook of the road between Market Drayton, home of Joule’s Brewery and Newcastle under Lyme.
Edward Cavanagh Mainwaring commented on the appointment:
"The estate is pleased to welcome Joules to our family business. We have a strong belief in local business with good values supporting local employment. The pub also used to be managed by Joule’s many years ago before the old brewery was taken over by Bass in 1974. With the brewery now independent and local to us then this felt a natural progression to work more closely with the brewery. The Inn is very important to the Whitmore Estate and offers a place for local folk to come together but we wanted it to be run by experts and in Joule’s we feel we have a good long-term partner."
We have plenty of ideas and are looking forward to playing a role within the Whitmore estate and the Mainwaring story.
